What is Pwn and Why should i do it???

    yep thats it im not sure why i need to Pwn my ipod or really what it does i have had a look around but every thing i can come up with is about custom firmware which i dont know any thing about either?

    Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I think you pwn your iPod first, then create a custom firmware which you then restore on iTunes.

    so in short we Pwn our ipods so we can install custom firmware at some stage?

    we use pwnage to flash (change) the bootloader (thing that loads the firmware). Pwnage changes the bootloader so that it allows unsigned code to be run. All code usualy has to be signed by apple to run and therefore without it things wont run. So pwnage changes the bootloader so that it 'forgets' to check for the signing code, this allows us to run firmware which isnt signed by apple, custom firmware. We create the custom firmware in pwnage and then restore with it through iTunes. Because the ipod is pwned and it dosnt check the firmware for signed code, the firmware is loaded by the bootloader just like it would load a normal firmware made by apple.
