Hey, i'm new here on this website, and just bought my first iPod touch. I keep hearing about "jailbreaking" your iPod touch, and was wondering what it was. Is it illegal? should i jailbreak my iPod? what are the pros and cons of this "jailbreaking"?

*And on this tour today of www.ifans.com we will be learning how to use the search function*

First, look at the top of any page

Second, look where it says Search then a down arrow

Third, Click on it, and then type in what you need an answer too.

    *Thank you for your cooperation*

Jailbreaking allows you to have more control of the iPod. Bypass the rules that Apple put on it. You can customize the way the UI looks. You can multitask (listen to pandora while surfing safari for example) It is legal, and free. The only con is that it does void you warranty, but if you dfu+restore, Apple wont be able to tell the difference.

    Pros: Tons of stuff. Search.

Cons: Lets you install crap that can screw up your iPod. The stuff you install can cause your home screen to crash, drain your battery, make your iPod totally useless until you restore it, and some other things that can be avoided if you just be careful and don't install every single thing you see.

I would say the Pros totally outweigh the Cons.
