I just downloaded some apps off itunes coughnotcough... and i dragged them into itunes then plugged in my ipod touch, it began to sync, then at the top it said "Backing up ipod touch" and the progress bar is going extremely slow. Can anyone tell me what backing up ipod touch means or what exactly itunes is doing? i'm just confused thats all.

it's backing up everything on your ipod, like music and stuff so if anything goes wrong you can restore from backup and everything you saved on your ipod will be there when you restore.

I usually cancel the backing up, but i do it occasionaly.

Backing up is good, because it saves settings and contacts, etc etc...

its backing up all of your apps you may have download on your ipod and it will take a long time if this is the first time you've backed up

i know your a noob but it doesn't back up your music since the music is on itunes
