Try some new games like iShoot 2 on a 2G or 3G device then try it on 4G.
It runs a lot faster and a lot smoother =)
and for the memeory part.. do u ever turn ur multitasked stuff off?

This is like asking "Why is a quad core better than a Pentium IV?"

Lol seriously, don't you read the apple website? They're simply telling you all what the a4 chip does is make the iPod faster. By fast I mean fast like the speed of light! A big boost if you own a 1g and get a 4g. Ehh the a4 is not that faster than my 3G ipod's proccessor.
And they mean RAM by memory not GB. it says how much you have left because your ios uses 75% of it.

A PROCESSOR...PROCESSES imformation. A4 is faster so it PROCESSES information faster making the commands for the ipod to do what it does faster. RAM just is what opens multiple programs and runs them.

A processor is like the brain of any computer system. The faster your processor is, the more commands can be run in the same amount of time, increasing the speed of everything you do with your ipod. RAM is different from disk space. RAM is the speedy memory that applications are loaded into when they are running, so the more RAM you have the more things you can do at the same time.

If you own a computer, you should know by now what a processor does. Isn't that one of the key aspects you look for in a computer?
