What exactly is SSH for ipod touch? Isn't jailbreaking the same thing? I'm a little confused? What does SSH-ing your touch do exactly?

    Thanks for reading.

first of all, you should use the search function, either here or on google
it will display a lot of answers

second of all, sshing gets inside your ipod's roots, so you can change, and upload different themes, and change settings

    please usse the search

Actually, I did try searching but I didn't have any luck unfortunately. That's why I asked here. Another question, sorry, can you SSH the new generation of iPod Touches?

No, as far as I know the 2G iPod hasn't been jailbroken yet, which means you wouldn't be able to access the root filesystem to either install or run SSH.

Since the new generation iPod Touch hasn't been jailbroken yet, you can't install SSH on it

    SSH means Secure Shell.

When you install OpenSSH on your jailbroken Touch, the SSH-deamon starts to run in the background.

Your iPod acts like an FTP-Server now.
Username is root, Password is alpine.

So there is no way to wirelessly store files in the iPod Touch 2G without jail breaking it?
