    hello. nathan here.
recently my friend dropped my ipod touch and has completely shatter the digitizer and has broken the LCD screen as well. i know it still works because i can turn it on and use it (Barely.) but the LCD screen has HUGE black spots all over it.
i want to replace the LCD screen and digitizer, but since it's a 8GB 3G ipod touch, i don't know if i need 2G ipod parts or 3G?
if anyone has repaired a 8GB 3G digitizer before, please tell me what i need to get.

i have already opened up my ipod and took off the old LCD screen and i also chucked the Digitizer and the mid frame away since it was dangerous (i spliced my hand open). i also took off the ribbon cable from the motherboard and Sleep button (And wifi) so i can't turn it on. (Since i can't turn it off without the digitizer and mid frame.)

looking at the 3G components they look totally different.

I'd say either 2g or 3g parts should fit.

well the 8GB iPod touch 3G is actually the 2G, it was just repackaged with a different firmware, same components as a 2G. 3G has quite a few more and advanced things in its hardware.
