You will be able to run emulators, and apps that are not available on the app store. The app store does not allow certain uses for the iPods features, and when jailbroken, some apps take advantage of this.

    1. Is jailbreaking totally reversible?
    2. Are some games j/b'en (as in free?)
    3. Can I stuff it up and bust my Touch?
    4. Do most people J/B?

I really want to, just a little nervous to take the venture.

    1. Yes
    2. There are free games (non-app store) on installer and Cydia
    3. No
    4. I don't know. Before the app store, yes.. Now, not so much.

Don't be nervous.. Been jailbroken without a problem since October

Well, both of those things could seriously throw a wrench in jailbreaking for a while. At least, while using them.

Basically, jailbreaking takes about 20 mins of your time. Jailbreak with 2.0.x firmware - I strongly suggest 2.0.2. It's the most stable version out. If 2.1.x comes out tomorrow, it's likely that current jailbreaking won't work on it for a while. 2.0.2 jailbreaking basically has only come about in the past couple weeks.

If you want to wait to see if they announce 2.1, then wait. It's only what...12 hours now? If you jailbreak tonight and decide you like it, you can then use your jailbroken firmware until 2.1 is jailbroken. Then you can upgrade to that.

    I reckon I should wait.....but I really don't want to.

Got another dumb question. where do you get apps from that aren't from the App store??

    Two applications that get installed with the jailbreak. They're called Cydia and Installer. Both can download apps straight to your Touch. Some recommendations for when you do jailbreak;

MXTube - Lets you download and save Youtube videos straight to your iPod.

dTunes - Like iTunes. But free.

    NES - Retro gaming ftw.

Winterboard - Customized themes and backgrounds.

Those four alone will give you hours of fun. Not to mention the countless other apps out there.

Really appreciate the answers (seriously thanks).

Will Remote still work and all the other "normal" apps that I have bought and paid for? Can I still use iTunes and my account as per normal?
