I have been looking around and I play some indie/freeware games.
Does anyone know of some really good ones? Which ones do you play?

    I play FPS and RTS.
    Some in my collection:
Alien Arena 2008, America's Army 3, Combat Arms, Cross Fire, and so on.

There's the free version of Minecraft, which I have to say is REALLY fun.

I've played minecraft, it gets dull.
I dislike steam, but I already own half-life games
I mean games that are developed in the goal of being free.

    AssaultCube, Cube, and Cube 2.

Free. No steam. Multiplayer. And they run well on almost any PC.

Alliance of Valiant Arms is alright, I got tired of it though.

TM Nations Forever is a good freeware arcade racer. Fun, even if you don't normally like racing games.

    Soldier Front
    Warrock
    Operation 7
    Urban Assault

All of these are F2P (Free-2-Play) FPS games. Problem is that there are a number of hackers.

I often play Soldier Front because although the graphics are terrible, the gameplay itself is fantastic.

nasra1n is right though, TrackMania Nations Forever is a FANTASTIC game. Pretty much the idea is that there are developer created tracks to race on and also you are given the tools to make your own tracks. You can download other players tracks and play against other players on user created tracks.

In short, its like Little Big Planet.

I was gifted the full version, which is 10x better! The free version was actually made to be free. The paid version is just a one time price and just adds 6 different tracks to try out. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a download.
