Well, like the title says, what can Apple do you keep people from Jailbreaking their iPods?

For instance with future ipod updates can they do something that would crash our iPods and render them useless?

    Thats my 1 concern.

    Well, chat on.

Apple should just forfeit to the people and let us do what we wish to our Touches.

In a way, it's a good security debugging session for Apple.
You've got people trying to break through the gadgets security, in this case largely for non-evil reasons, and with each Firmware update, the Apple developers plug up the holes demonstrated to them.

It'll make for a more secure gadget when/if it is opened up to 3rd party developers.

They can't actively stop the jailbroken iPods, but they can patch whatever loophole was used to jailbreak.

They can't do anything jailbreak was released, not sure really when, but it took them foreve to make 1.1.3 firmware, and it still sucks, sorry Apple, its just true, but of course you know this becuase you used a jailbroken iPod to steal some ideas, wiggle wiggle, okay...........

    made my day, haha

but really i think there will always be a way. everytime apple thinks they have one up on us, we get smarter, so in the process its helping hackers grow. so i guess we should thank apple.
