I got a new iPod touch 2G about a week ago. I got a silicon case for it and it's been in there since I got it.

I took the case off today to take a look at the back and it has these odd scratches on it, I'm not sure how to describe them except they look like little explosions.

Is this some kind of defect? :/ How would they have gotten there?

I was wondering because I was thinking of taking it back claiming it was defective.

Could be a defective piece. Did you not notice them the day you put on the case?

Maybe some photos would clear things up?

Its dust that came between your ipod and your silicon case. They rub against your ipod and cause this kind of scaratches. I had this with my Classic

The scratches weren't there when I got the iPod. I would remove it about once a day, to clean it, but everyday more and more of these "exploison" type scratches are appearing on it. (I disregarded it at first.)

I'll take a picture when I get home tonight.

@Salamantis - that is indeed terrible. I'm assuming a wipe does the trick? It is bothersome though.

Nope, unfortunately they are permanent. It's like a regular scratch, but round
