    I've downloaded & switched weather icons from other themes and also ensured "0755" permisson is set but the Weather Icon cannot be changed. I can change all other icons without any problems.

    Am I missing something?

    It's because the application enforces its own icon. To solve the problem, you have to edit /Applications/weather.app/info.plist on the iPod:
    • First transfer it to your PC with WinSCP (I think it's sFTP if you're on a Mac). There is a guide for WinSCP in these forums if you're not familiar with it.
    • If the file is not text but binary, use this link to transform it: http://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi
    • You have to remove those two lines in info.plist:
      Code:
      <key>SBIconClass</key>
      <string>SBWeatherApplicationIcon</string>
    • Once it's done, put it back on the iPod with WinSCP (in text mode, it's fine), and restart SpingBoard.

    great guide! but for Safari users, you will have to turn on the "save as" download dialog, as it doesn't let the file replace itself once converted. i recommend firefox.

    can someone help me out with this please?

    ive done everything EXACTLY as instructed. and when i did everything correctly and put the info.plist back into my ipod reset it... my weather icon AND app dissapeared. but the weather app was still shown in the uninstaller of the installer app. so i just uninstalled it since it wasent working and reinstalled it again.

    i did this on a mac using cyberduck

    if anything can someone just put up a link of the info.plist without those 2 lines, please?

    If you have Total Commander, I have made a plug-in to transfer files from and to the iPod via USB as if it was just another disk. It also converts the .plist files automatically.

    Check the link on my signature below, all you have to do is install Total Commander if you don't have it already, download the plug-in which will auto-install when you open it. From there, you can use Total Commander to edit the /Applications/Weather/Info.plist directly, no need to go through all those tools anymore

    For those who destroyed their file, here's the content:

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>CFBundleDevelopmentRegion</key>
    <string>English</string>
    <key>CFBundleExecutable</key>
    <string>Weather</string>
    <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
    <string>com.apple.weather</string>
    <key>CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion</key>
    <string>6.0</string>
    <key>CFBundlePackageType</key>
    <string>APPL</string>
    <key>CFBundleSignature</key>
    <string>????</string>
    <key>CFBundleVersion</key>
    <string>1.0</string>
    <key>SBUsesNetwork</key>
    <integer>3</integer>
    </dict>
    </plist>

    im on a mac bro...

    and instead of the actual code i meant the .plist file itself with those 2 lines already taken out. but thanks. im sure this will be of some help to others with the same problem.
