So the other day I was at the v8s, and I had my iPod Touch 2g, and a friend had his 1g. He picked up 3 wireless networks, but I was sitting 1m away from him and picked up none. Is the wifi on the second generation weaker than the first? Or is there just something wrong with mine?

I've heard more than once that the 1G's have better wi-fi range. When the 2G first came out, I remember a lot of complaint threads because people who upgraded to the 2G were unable to connect to some of the same networks.

If you have a case, that could reduce the strength of the signal. Then again, 1 metres can make alot of difference.

the wifi cutout on the 2G is smaller, that could also have something to do with it.
