Hey guys, lets start a thread on ways to speed up iOS 4. Please list ways that you tweaked iOS 4 to make it run faster.

-Something i picked up on these forums.
    1. SSH into your iDevice or use iFile which you can do this directly from your device.
    2. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app and look for these files. (I deleted mine)

    WallpaperGradientLandscapeTopT.png
    WallpaperGradientPortraitBottomT.png

Another way is to download iMemoryEnhancer. It is imperative that you reboot after install and have sbsettings installed. For a more in depth-review check out this thread http://www.ifans.com/forums/...d.php?t=303980

Another trick is to not have Apples multitasking installed. It eats up your ram. You can use backgrounder as an alternative. They updated it pretty nice for 4.0.

Also, do not install wallpapers as it seemed to lag my iOS 4 even worse. Just install winterboard and use their themes.

most likely you wouldnt be able to restore if you were bricked
removing the shadows did nothing for me
but installing imemoryenhancer changed my ipods life

People use the term "Bricked" liberally...

Also, thanks, I was looking for the files.

You welcome, also, it didn't brick your iDevice, you probably installed it wrong. Clustershart, it seems like when i deleted those files it did absolutely nothing.

It wasnt bricked you can't brick your ipod by doing anything especially if your able to restore. Starter of this thread should leave a note on iMemoryEnchancer saying "Reboot after install, first reboot after installation takes a little bit longer then normally." There is tutorials of this but if your looking for lists to speed things up I guess its different. Good idea.

When I enabled multitasking and wallpapers I didn't delete those and experienced no difference in my iPods performance.
