It's too small of a screen to be considered "HD"

In YouTube mobile, there's an HQ Button. that's Probably the highest quality you'll get.

Videos with a 720p option definitely look much sharper than videos without the option on the retina display.

Do we actually get the option to watch in 720p if available?

The only possible way to watch an actual 720 p video with your Ipod Touch is if you connect it to an HDTV with VGA cables...the dimensions of the iPod Touch makes it to small to make it truly HD...like the other guy said HQ is the highest quality you'll get, which isn't HD.

My laptop is 18.5" and its 1920x1080 full HD. I guess thats too small.

I don't know what no one has mentioned the specs page:

It appears the iPad is the only one that can view HD videos.

No, the screen is way too small, to notice the detail in 1080p for example you need a TV around 50 Inches.

Like I said I have a HD laptop and I can notice detail. HD doesn't need to be 50" or more. As long as its 1920x1080 or more it will work,.

On a 50inch tv u can see all the pixels a 1080p 22inch tv is much better, the ipod touch 4 and the iphone 4 both have HD retina displays

    720x1280 is also HD
