I was thinkng of the last night. Was releasing Ownboot a good idea? What if Apple sees what the explot does and patches it? Maybe this is why the iPhone Dev Team was so secretive. And wouldn't you know it 2.2.1 was released today. Do you think this might have had something to do with the release of Ownboot?

The Jailbreak is supposed to be immune to future updates from Apple so I guess it won't matter.

A buggy version got leaked, so Chronic released a good one so people didn't use the buggy one. It's useless to most people anyways. Also, the exploit is to deep to be fixed by a software update.

Wasn't the exploit something that was in 2.1.1 ?
And they fixed it in 2.2 ?

My take is that it was bad to release it because numerous noobs will either:

    A) Think it is a JB and download it. Then from that they can either:
1A) Leave it on their desktop because they don't know how to use it
1B) Mess up their iPod touch

I guess it was released as a hidden way to shut some people up + speed up the process of the 2G JB. Will it work? Time will tell.
