I returned my iPod Touch 2G to the store today due the problems with the accelerometer. The guy there asked me if i already did a software-update wich i did and then he said did you try to restore and i told him yes i did. After that he took my ipod and he said he will send it for reparation, and i will get it back on thuesday or wednesday.

And now i hear from a friend that they will also try a software-update or restore and if that doesnt work i will get a new one? Can anyone confirm this what is the chance i will get a new one?

    Thanks in advance

chances are it will be a refurbished one they give you if they send it to apple. if the store is the one honoring the warranty though like best buy they might just give you a new one. good luck either way!

then it sounds like they might just give you a refurbished one. Apple isnt known to give new ones out. They usually give back refurbished ones. Don't worry though, you won't know the difference.

Theres no difference at all. It will just be an ipod that was sent back to apple for repair for one reason or another that was repaired back to new and sent back out. I doubt it will make a difference which country you're in, and no...it won't restart your warranty. Your original warranty applies still.
