Ok, so my brother got himself an ipod touch and wants me to jailbreak it for him because he is a lazy bastard. It is about 4 days old and activated on apple. Since the jailbreak is still tethered and something goes wrong can i give it back to apple for a new one?

Course not. You're messing with the system software.

    No, jailbreaking voids the warranty.

These guys didn't tell you the whole story.

If you restore the iPod to an unjailbroken state, Apple will honor your warranty.
The legality of this, of course, is disputed.

well, what do you mean acticated with apple?

if you jailbreak it you void the warranty, but if there is and issue you restore it and return it.

i know this works beacuse i hacked my old iPod and it stoped working, i restored it and the apple store took it back no questions asked.
