I installed the snapshot.app from the installer, turned the switch on, then completely turned off the ipod (slide to turn off), then I rebooted and I get the apple icon with the snap and view button on the top left of the screen as it was flashing what appeared to look like the matrix bunch of lines of jarin acroos the screen. I am restoring to 1.1.1 jailbreaking, then update to 1.1.2 and re-jailbreak.

    Hey.

    I had the same problem.

And I'll tell you how to fix it =)

There are a few small steps.

ONE) Hold down the home and the lock button on your ipod touch until it shuts down
TWO) Reboot the iPod. If the screen starts to flash or the buttons come up, it's OK!
THREE) You can still FTP into your ipod =) so do that.
FOUR) navigate to /Library/LaunchDaemons (this is from the root folder on your ipod)
FIVE) remove the file in there that contains the words "screenshot". This file launches the screenshot application. delete it.
SIX) go to your applications folder and delete the screenshots application.
SEVEN) Reboot, all is well =)

I was pissed as well because I immediately thought "f***, NOT AGAIN WITH THIS RESTORE CRAP), but I had realized my FTP connection never dropped, so away I went to find the problem =)
