I have recently upgraded to the latest version of SBSettings (2.99-5) and it crashed my SpringBoard, resulting in an inescapable respring (and eventually reboot) loop known as the SPINNING WHEEL OF DEATH. Syslog shows: Code: Jun 22 19:14:01 ipt SpringBoard: Renaming UIWindow::sendEvent: Jun 22 19:14:01 ipt SpringBoard: Rename success Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.SpringBoard: MS:Notice: Loading: /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/FiveIconDock.dylib Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.SpringBoard: MS:Notice: Loading: /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/ReflectiveDock.dylib Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.SpringBoard: MS:Notice: Loading: /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/SBSettings.dylib Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.launchd (com.apple.SpringBoard): Exited: Killed Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.launchd (com.apple.SpringBoard): Throttling respawn: Will start in 9 seconds Jun 22 19:14:03 ipt kernel: CODESIGNING: vm_fault_enter(0x414000): page 0xe0190e38 obj 0xc2140460 off 0x0 *** INVALID PAGE *** Jun 22 19:14:05 ipt launchproxy: /usr/libexec/sshd-keygen-wrapper: Connection from: 192.168.1.6 on port: 43870 Jun 22 19:14:09 ipt sshd: Accepted password for root from 192.168.1.6 port 43870 ssh2 It is obvious what caused the crash: SBSettings Lines in blue represent me successfully SSH'ing into the device. SOLUTION: 1. SSH into your iPod (Linux/OSX users: "ssh -l root <IPOD_IP_ADDRESS>"; Windows users: install an SSH client like PuTTY)Username: root ; Default password: alpine 2. type the following command and press <enter> Code: apt-get remove sbsettings 2b. If you get the error: "install-info not found in PATH", type the following (case-sensitive) and press <enter> then retry step 2: Code: export PATH='/bin:/usr/bin/:/usr/share/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin' 3. Reboot with the command Code: reboot 4. You may install the latest version of SBSettings (as of <mon jun 22 18:00 GMT>: v3.0-1) NOTE: My iPod may have been an isolated case.
