    Sorry if this is a duplicate post, I searched and there were no results.
    My bad. I have stumbled upon 2 threads reporting this issue.

    Moderators, delete this post if you see fit, but please note that I have also supplied a solution.

    I have recently upgraded to the latest version of SBSettings (2.99-5) and it crashed my SpringBoard, resulting in an inescapable respring (and eventually reboot) loop known as the SPINNING WHEEL OF DEATH.

    Syslog shows:
    Code:
    Jun 22 19:14:01 ipt SpringBoard[80]: Renaming UIWindow::sendEvent:
    Jun 22 19:14:01 ipt SpringBoard[80]: Rename success

    Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.SpringBoard[80]): [COLOR=Red]Exited: Killed[/COLOR]
    Jun 22 19:14:02 ipt com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.SpringBoard): Throttling respawn: Will start in 9 seconds
    Jun 22 19:14:03 ipt kernel[0]: CODESIGNING: vm_fault_enter(0x414000): page 0xe0190e38 obj 0xc2140460 off 0x0 *** INVALID PAGE ***
    [COLOR=RoyalBlue]Jun 22 19:14:05 ipt launchproxy[77]: /usr/libexec/sshd-keygen-wrapper: Connection from: 192.168.1.6 on port: 43870
    Jun 22 19:14:09 ipt sshd[81]: Accepted password for root from 192.168.1.6 port 43870 ssh2[/COLOR]
    It is obvious what caused the crash: SBSettings
    Lines in blue represent me successfully SSH'ing into the device.

    SOLUTION:

    1. SSH into your iPod (Linux/OSX users: "ssh -l root <IPOD_IP_ADDRESS>"; Windows users: install an SSH client like PuTTY)
    Username: root ; Default password: alpine
    2. type the following command and press <enter>
    Code:
    apt-get remove sbsettings
    2b. If you get the error: "install-info not found in PATH", type the following (case-sensitive) and press <enter> then retry step 2:
    Code:
    export PATH='/bin:/usr/bin/:/usr/share/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin'
    3. Reboot with the command
    Code:
    reboot
    4. You may install the latest version of SBSettings (as of <mon jun 22 18:00 GMT>: v3.0-1)

    NOTE: My iPod may have been an isolated case.

    I updated and have not had a single problem.

    Well whatever updates have been released in last few days, I believe I went through all the new versions and haven't had any problems.

    You may have directly upgraded to v3.0 or v3.0-1. Then again, it may have been an isolated case.

    I posted this thread for people in the same situation as me. (few, I suppose, because of the rapid chain of upgrades: v2.99-4 v2.99-5 v3.0 v3.0-1 in under 24h (I think))
