I want to upgrade from 2.0 to the latest version of code but really cba to re-jailbrake and add all my themes etc back on.

    (Jailbreaking gets a bit teadious)

    However i will if:
    • It dramaticly increases the back up speed when syncing?
    • Decreases the lag when loading apps?

    Well does it?

    Thanks

As far as the app store goes, I feel it's just a regurtation of everything that used to be free for the older firmwares. Wake up, the app store will nickle and dime you to death; it's designed as a easy cash-in for apple. I haven't found anything useful in there that I don't already have working fine on 1.1.1 (omg the shame ! I didn't upgrade to the newest firmware so I MUST buy the apps for them to work right).

To be fair, there's a lot of stuff on the App Store that's either free initially, or becomes free during a sale and then once you have it STAYS free. The main tweaks on 2.x are WPA2, built-in Safari image-saving support, screenshots, and the App Store stuff.

Oh, and it does speed up backups and syncs compared to 1.1.x if you've a lot of files.

The AppStore apps are a lot more stable compared to the jailbreak ones as these ones go through Apple's review process by Apple's Developers themselves. Though many ridicule and laugh at the lengthy process, ultimately in the long run, it would help as it ensures that no viruses or spyware gets into your device from installing an App.

Oh, and I don't see how it is a copy of jailbreak apps. A lot of great apps many people are talking about now have never been seen before in Installer/Cydia.
