Please Register or Log in to view imagesWith the imminent release of the iOS4 jailbreak for all devices, the best thing to do right now while you wait, if you haven't already, is save your SHSH blobs. Why? The jailbreak can be patched in future firmware updates. With Apple announcing that they will be sending out a firmware update to fix the signal indictor issues on the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4, they can easy integrate the fix into that update. Saving your SHSH blobs ensures that you'll always be able to restore back to 4.0 and re-jailbreak. This will not be an essential update for everyone, especially iPod touch users obviously, but even iPhone users can do without this upcoming firmware update. How? For this tutorial, I'll be showing you how to save your SHSH blobs to Saurik's Cydia server. Step #1: Download TinyUmbrella Step #2: Run the application, either on your Mac or Windows computer. On Mac, mount the DMG and drag the Umbrella application to the Desktop. Step #3: Plug in your device via USB if you haven't done this already. Make sure Umbrella recognizes your device. If your already at 4.0, simply click "Save My SHSH". If you still at 3.1.3 or 3.1.2, check "Advanced Options", and click the "Device/Version" dropbox and choose "[appledevice] 4.0 (8A293)". By default, Umbrella will save the SHSH blobs to Saurik's Cydia server unless you choose otherwise. Step #4: Now, let's check if you correctly saved your blobs! Click on "Display SHSHs" and a popup will appear. If you see your device, the 4.0 firmware version, and your 13 digit ECID number ID, your done! Good luck!
