    Original Problem: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115217

I called in 3 times. Neither of them knew how to completely fix it and mostly gave me information I already knew. They say it has to do with iTunes server being down but I'm not too entirely sure.

I recently switched to another user profile on my computer and downloaded 1.1.5 when requested to recover/restore. Still stuck in "waiting for ipod" .....

I think it has to do with my computer not fully recognizing my ipod. How do I check if it is being hooked up besides directly under devices on itunes.

Could it be that I might have more than 1 firmware on the computer,(NONE ON IPOD)maybe?

Go into Device Manager (Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management) and see if your iPod is detected under USB Devices.

And probably you don't have more than 1 firmware, because that would really screw up your ipod

All that it has is Apple "mobile device USB driver"...so I'm guessing it isnt connected.
By the way...when I called the apple personal made me do the same thing and acknowelged it wasnt connected.

Have you tried other USB ports or other computers? Does your computer support USB 2.0?

I've currently in the back atm. Could it be because I have a new mouse hooked up via usb cable in the back as well?

Is the waiting for ipod stage due to it not fully connecting?

Well, there's always a waiting for ipod stage. It generally just doesn't go on forever. Actually, I think my iPod did that once. I got it working by using DFU mode to restore

    For DFU mode:

Connect your iPod to the computer
Press and hold both Sleep/Power and Home button for 10 seconds
Release the sleep/power button but keep holding down the home button
in about 15 seconds your computer should beep recognizing your iPod
iTunes will tell you your iPod is in DFU mode and you need to either upgrade or recover
If you need to recover you'll need the previous firmware.
There are many posts here regarding DFU mode and recovery.
