I downloaded some games from the internet directly to my ipod touch. All three showed downloading, installing, and now waiting. Waiting for what?

Waiting for an internet connection. After a successful install, your app needs to be "verified" with Apple servers.

or just plug it into iTunes, and it will finish the download for you.

I've actually left it plugged into itunes and it is simply not happening. I downloaded these games from the apps store, all two were free, one was paid. Is there a way to just wipe these off?

Can you hold any of the icons until they start to "shake" with the "X" symbol? You should be able to delete the KO'ed apps by clicking the X accordingly...
