I had to reformat to the W7 RC, and now I DL'd an ISO which lets you choose which version of Windows 7 to install (x64 and x86). I have a 64-bit processor, but when I click "x64", I get an error message saying I can't upgrade from 32 to 64, and vice versa. What's up with that?

    Are you using 32-bit now?

You gotta do a clean install. Not upgrade.

DAMNIT. ANOTHER Clean install? That means I'm going to lose all my stuff I had to re-DL yesterday!

Just go with 32 bit unless you have more than 4GB of ram. There are no other advantages of 64 bit.

please please do a clean install! i cringe every time i hear someone say there going to do an in place upgrade i mean think about: lets say you have an old honda civic with an older engine. it runs ok but its got a lot of miles on it but it has never failed to start up and take you were you want to go. now lets say your going to bye a ferrari it would be like putting that old honda engine into your ferrari it would still run but you would be a long way away from maximizing its potential! its like that when your upgrading windows! so... everyone say it with me DO A CLEAN INSTALL!

If you don't wanna lose any stuff:
    Partition your hard drive
    Install on the new partition
    Copy across your old files
    Delete the old partition
Expand the new one to fill the empty space

I formatted + re-installed. It took me an hour to get everything back. No worries. Thanks!

...I'm surprised how you can get away with attempts to be clever, yet I get infracted for everything. Some world.

Anyway, I'm pretty glad. A driver update for my PCI slot was found, and now my Innnuhnet is faster! (PCI-E WiFi card)
