Ever wanted to make your voice sound like Darth Vader, or as if you were talking on a walkie-talkie? This app allows you to do that very simply, yet the result is of high quality and is very realistic. I stumbled across this app about a year ago, pretty close to its release (version 1.0), and absolutely fell in love with it. Just a few weeks ago, taptaptap, the creators of Camera+, released a major update (version 2.0) bringing the app back to life after a year with no updates.

    Features
    Score:
    ★★★★★

Voices 2 is all about one main feature, voice changing. Upon opening the app you are greeted with 27 (v.1 only had 17 effects) very creative effects to choose from. Some of these include: Chipmunk, Alien, Dark Side, and walkie-talkie (my personal favorite). Simply choose the one of your liking and press the microphone to record. You can even test how it will sound before you record. Just say a simple sentence, wait for a few seconds and it will be played back to you to see if you want to use the effect or not. Once you record with the effect you want, you can access them on the main page by selecting the tape labeled “Recordings” and play them back. If you want, share your recordings on Twitter, Facebook or via email. Said something priceless that couldn’t be re-recorded without you laughing but you want to hear it with more than just one voice effect? Voices 2 now allows you to switch effects, say from Chipmunk to Dark Side, as many times as you want.

Easy to use menu, very familiar to the user, as it resembles the SpringBoard.
Simply hit the button on the microphone, and you're on the air.

    GUI
    Score
    : ★★★★★

The Voices 2 GUI is simply awesome, almost realistic, and completely redesigned. The SpringBoard-styled effects pages are familiar to the user, so the application is easy to use right from the start. The app is setup like a stage on which you are about to perform. Once the voice effect you desire is chosen, the dancing spotlights fade, the curtains split, you’re on the air, and it’s just you and the microphone. To sum it up, the app is incredibly easy to use.

    Audio
    Score:
    ★★★★★

The audio quality really sets this app above the rest. Voice transformation in Voices 2 is almost instant and the effects are top-quality and very realistic. Need to make a voice memo in your regular voice? Voices 2 gives you that option so you don’t have to touch that stock Voice Memos application ever again. The app is also AirPlay compatible (iOS 4.2.1 or later), so you can play back your recordings through any supported speaker system, and of course, your Apple TV.

Once recorded, play it back as many times as you want, and change the effect if wanted.
Easily share your recordings over SMS, Twitter, and more.

    Value for Money
    Score
    : ★★★★★

Voices 2 is worth much more than the mere $0.99 it is being sold at, and out of the voice changing apps I have used, Voices 2 gives you the most bang for your buck. Your friends and family may even get a kick out of it too (just don’t scare them, ok?).

    Reuse Value
    Score
    : ★★★★

Voices 2 has features no other app can compete with and will keep you entertained for hours, days, months, and maybe even years. The one downfall I found was that the developers' content updates (so far) have been few and far between, so there is a chance that some of you may get bored after a while because of this (so disregard the "entertained for years" part if this applies to you).

    Final Thoughts

I have tried numerous voice morphing apps, but none of them come close to Voices 2. It’s very fun to play jokes on your friends with and will definitely bring a smile to your face. Its looks awesome, sounds awesome, (and most importantly) is awesome.

I love this review, it looks very new and sleek. I am definitely buying this.
Also, how do you make it that when you can click the picture it forwards to a link?

    Thanks Appman.

To anyone considering getting this app, don't expect "Dark Side" to sound like Darth Vader. It just sounds like a low creepy tone.

Thanks for all the compliments so far :)

And yes, it is compatible with all iDevices (as long as there is an internal/external mic connected).
