    ahhhhhhhhhhhh

my friend and i are going crazy because we can't decide between the two programs: VMware fusion and Parallels.

google search shows comparisons performed a year ago between the two products... with results indicating no clear winner.

i haven't been able to find any recent (2-3 months ago) comparisons.

the apple store shows vmware with a slightly better review of 4/5
    compared with parallels's 3.5/5

but parallels is more popular in terms of # of users

what are your experiences with vmware and parallels?
    thanks for posting!

srry if writing is extremely choppy. i gotta leave the house in 30 sec and my thoughts aren't organized!

parallels is actually much faster than vmware,

i suggest going with parallels. or you could try a free solution: virtualbox.org

check that out first and see if it fits what you need.

if it doesn't do the job, then go with parallels.

I would recommend VMWare. If you look around their site you can get the new beta version for free like I did.

But yeah, I would get VMWare.

I vote for Crossover. It allows me to play Guild Wars without having any kind of windows installed

VmWare, when i tried to install Parallels, it just wouldnt boot Windows Vista Ulitmate even with enough RAM. Vmware is awesome, also parallels keeps going into "not responding" mode and i have to manually close it

I have both Parallels and the latest Beta of VMWare. Parallels is fine for everyday use but I found that most games will not run in parallels but VMWare has had no problem with games that are large on the graphics. VMWare also has multiple monitor support.

Parallels crashes and glitches out on me a LOT. I prefer the clean UI of VMWare any day, as well. Speed-wise, they use the same technology, so it's not that different.

Virtualbox is free and it has almost the same features as VMWare and Parallels. No 3D acceleration.

I also use Darwine but it's not as compatible.

VMWare and Parallels are virtual machines for Mac OS X so you can run windows and OS X side by side.

I got a box of VMWare Fusion right next to me right now but I never got to use it cause I don't have Windows. Lucky me.
