What exactly does vlc4iphone do? I know on computer vlc plays pretty much anything, but on the ipod, how would that work? I would think the ipod hardware is only capable of so much, and how would you even load the videos so they are accessible?

    It converts them on-the-fly.

What??? That sounds pretty awesome. By on the fly, do you mean instantly, or do you have to let it convert, then watch? And what folder do the videos need to be in to be accessible?

    Wrong.

It plays the videos. That's it. However, it doesn't play them very well; I've had more luck with mPlayer.

There is a mini finder integrated in VLC, you can play any media files downloaded from anywhere, or you can SSH it in.

I personally don't like it (I like the desktop version of VLC) because it does not display in landscape, and no fullscreen, and the controls feel weird.

Im sure it can play flv files, and mp4 files, although the mp4 files are a bit lossy.

I recommend mplayer, for the sole reason that it plays in landscape mode.

Okay, I'll check out mPlayer, thanks.

In terms of codecs, it is better.
In terms of prettiness, no way.

    Control is pretty good.

It really depends on how you're getting your videos. If you're SSHing, or any other file browser from the computer, you should just be able to select it. If you're using an iPod ******* client, I would assume you will have to copy it to the right directory using a computer connection.
