Wow Rémi Denis-Courmont sounds like a real asswipe. The GPL isn't very "OPEN" after all. If you are going to put a bunch of restrictions on your source code, do everyone a favour and keep it closed source OR offer it dual licensed so that someone can PAY to use it in another form OR offer it in an actual "OPEN" source license like the MIT or BSD license. Licenses should not be used to further political agendas or philosophies. OPEN source is supposed to be about "SHARING", not indoctrination and they should not be viral.
Remi, you can stick your concerns where the sun does not shine. I'm keeping VLC on my iPad. You can go screw yourself.
I thought that on the gpl v2 you could have some sought of drm but had to still release the source code?
Like how TiVo can prevent mods but still use Linux.
In any case, grab it while you can.
So wait, no more updates? Man i just downloaded it today and I fell in love with it.
So... VLC for iDevices is illegally legal?
well the app sucks anyways. It could even decode a simple 40mb mkv file. I would rather use AirVideo.
It runs SD stuff, even MKVs from my tests.
For a free app, it is worth it.
The only issues I had was with HD content, which you would expect in reality.
One thing I wonder though is why couldn't the homebrew community deliver something as good sooner?
For the record, I don't mean to be some arrogant idiot who knows nothing about coding (I know next to nothing, which is still something) and demands everything, I am just saying that I wonder why this app has managed to do what cydia based apps couldn't (i.e. run decent AVIs).
Yeah, I was not impressed with the app either. all my vids I want I keep in iso format and the VLC app cannot seem to read iso images like it's big PC brother can.
omg it got in the app store and now they are bringing legal issues against apple because of DRM, smh.
