I've tried 3 OS X disks so far, and all give me this error upon boot:

    "Still waiting for root device"

    any fixes?

This error means you most likely have a SATA internal drive. You will not be able to install OSX on this drive unless you go through hours and hours of patching the install disc.

So the easier thing to do is find a large external hard drive, another computer that can boot the disc sucessfully, and install osx on the external drive. Make sure the BIOS of your computer (the one you want to boot osx on) supports booting from USB. That way, you can use the BIOS as a quasi-bootloader.

I had the same problem with by computer, and this is how I got it to work. Leo running off my external HDD is still at least 5x faster than my fresh XP install on my internal disk.
