    Hi,

This is my first time posting on this site so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

Anyway, my problem is that I can't get iTunes 7.6+ to work on my Vista PC. I keep on getting this error message that says "iTunes has stopped working.... Windows is checking for a solution to the problem." When I first got my PC (HP m7757c) last March, iTunes 7.3 worked fine. I tried to re-install 7.3 on my PC and upgrade (to 7.6), but this time not even 7.3 worked! If the specs of my computer are of any help, here they are:

    HP m7757c
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Intel Core 2 CPU (E6400) @ 2.13GHz
    2046 MB RAM
    DX10

    I would appreciate any help!

    Welcome to the forum, avirji

    I had this same issue.
Here is what I woudl suggest:
    1. Try to save the setup package (*.exe) to your desktop.
    2. Right-click and choose "Run as Administrator"

Due to the new security on Vista (as opposed to XP) you need to specifically run the setup as administrator (even if your user account is an administrator on the machine).

    Hope that helps,

If your vista is 64-bit, make sure to download iTunes with IE.

Thank you evel_king. However, my version of Vista is not 64-bit, it's 32-bit. iTunes installs fine when I download it, but when it goes to opening the program, every single time I get the message:

"iTunes has stopped working... Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"

    What to do?

EDIT: Well I was looking around on the 'net today and finally found a solution. I just deleted QuickTime and iTunes and deleted my music folder and re-installed iTunes and it worked! Thanks to both of you for your help. I found the solution on the Apple Discussions page but forgot the link =P.
