I had another idea today.... i bet everyone here... would think of a virus as a bad thing... but when having an ipod set to boot with just 6 characters.. couldn't you make a virus that runs on boot that would... as soon as the ipod boots up.. throw the run rs code into the system? any ideas?

Surely you would be able to patch the firmware (IPSW File) and just completely disable sig checking?:S

well.. can't viruses work threw codes like that? run undetected in a way??

if viruses were stopped by sig checks... computers would never get a virus... cause windows would put sig checks on everything as would mac/apple

If it were that easy, we would have untethered by now

Won't work. It is all sig checked. When it detected the virus in the boot-up sequence, it would refuse to boot.

No, because that would have to edit the bootrom, and that is a ROM, or Read ONLY Memory, device... thing. Bootrom can't be rewritten
