ok, so i was going to sell my ipod to my little brother for $100
he said no because i probably have some viruses on it.
so then my dad agrees with him saying "if you can get on the internet then it can get viruses"

even though im pretty sure its impossible,
    tell me if it is

    Lol , this is funny.
No you can't , because none of the viruses are compatible with OS X Mobile or whatever.

It's not possible, especially with the way 2.1 works.

You can't download files on Safari, and that is normally how people get viruses.
Second, the virus would have to be installed onto the iPod and have to have a security check (Or some electronic signature of some kind).

Last, only one process can be running on the iPod at a time (Except for music?).
Steve Jobs does not like background processes on the iPod/iPhone.

P.S. Why somebody would even attempt to make one for the iPod is beyond my understanding... Most people target Windows computers.

lmfao @ viruses on an apple machine, as said with the security checks done then theres not much chance of getting a vrius, and even if you have jailbroken and have the safari download tool you still cant get viruses because there are none written for OSX

I think your Dad and brother need some computer classes. Just because you can go on the Internet doesntvmeqn you automatically get a virus, or a lot of Song, Samsung, and Nokia phones would be in trouble. Plus, that's part of why Steve and Apple are so anal about iPhone code (including the killswitch) and why there are so many restrictions in the sdk.

You can't say it's not possible. It is possible. It's rare, and someone would have to find an exploit, but it's possible. Such as the 1.1.1 jailbreak, that was an exploit, and harmful code, could have been run from it.
