I had this idea today, but do not know enough about hardware to know if it's possible. Please chime in if you have any relevant expertise.

The idea is for an app that would make a virtual copy of your SIM card, and store it in the phone's memory. You could then insert SIM after SIM after SIM, making and storing a virtual copy of each. Once stored, the app would allow you to select which virtual SIM card you wish to use for your cellular connection, eliminating the need for physically switching SIM cards.

Is this even possible? Or am I just drooling for nothing here?! lol

no,no,no. Whats the point? you still need to switch them to receive and send anything. Get a case, stuff them inside the case. It can be used to evil, and its just for the pure lazy.

You would need full access to the baseband - basically "pwn" it / make it run unsigned and completely custom code. I'm not sure whether the current unlocks are even capable of injecting code into the baseband, or if they can only unlock it using some security hole.
And, if you've come that far, you still need to reverse-engineer the baseband OS, and how it reads SIM cards, and then override/patch that to allow local virtual copies.

I agree it'd be frickin' awesome, though!
