I've tried iPhoneVM on 3.1.3 and the PLIST method on 3.1.3, 4, and 4.0.1. They all freeze the iPhone randomly sometimes and when I click Free Memory froM SBSettings. Is there a virtual memory mod that doesn't freeze the iPhone when RAM gets full and is being copied to the flash drive?

Try "iMemory Enhancer" from Gumball Tech (http://gumballtech.com/2010/02/01/cydia-imemory-enhancer/). It works fine on my jailbroken 2nd gen MB iPod touch, giving around 70-80MB of free memory after using the Free Memory function of SBSettings.

This screenshot shows me getting 84MB, I once got up to 88MB of free memory.

Works stable for me so far, but don't blame me if it screws up your iPhone 3G.

Edit: Their Cydia repo is http://gumballtech.com/cydia FYI.

By the way, iPhone VM I think is only for the 2.x firmware Dx

iMemory Enhancer made me restore my device >_>

But then that was the first thing I installed after the restore/jailbreak and it really does work awesome

hmmm i've got an iPhone 3G... and this installed, yeah it shows 84mb when cleaned. And around 50 when using apps... But as soon as it hits 30mb, then the iPhone freezes and locks up, then unfreezes and displays about 50mb again. Although this can sometimes cause an app to quit...

This is freshly installed on iOS4 without wallpapers and multitasking. Any reason why my iphone runs slow as snail?

Ya, with a constant 30 MB free, I thought I might as well not use virtual memory and just use the 3G memory. I have a 3G with multitasking and wallpapers enabled and it's OK. Sluggish at times, but bearable until I get my 4.

the 28-30mb "free" barrier is known and I also experienced this issue...seems that the memory fork (device starts to free memory and kill processes=slows horribly down) starts at this amount instead of the 4-5mb...so it is pretty useless in my opinion - just amethod to fool users by displaying more...well but you cannot actually USE this extra memory -.-
