Hi, I bought a 32GB ipod touch that came with 3.1.1 firmware.
I know it can run the recent videos from sites like megavideo, veoh etc that are being converted to HD version (H.264 i think).
I know that the 2G ipod touches can't run it.
So i jailbroke my ipod and put iMobileCinema on there and it doesn't play the videos from megavideo (or sites that aren't already converted to mobile). It just plays the sound, not the graphics.
Is there another program like iMobile Cinema that lets the ipod touch 3G show HD streaming videos?

What I heard is that The iPod can't really handle HD video.

The iPod can play HD video, it's just iPod.app can't (neither will iTunes sync it). I'm not sure about HD streaming to the iPod, but alternative media players such as vlc4iphone can bypass this by playing them locally (add them via SSH).

Ok, Thanks. Can I just use safari download plugin and download the videos through my ipod and play them thru VLC? And will there be any loss in quality (HQ) if I use VLC?

i tried MPlayer on my ipod touch 3G with a 720p mkv, it lagged bad, so im assuming it doesnt have the processing power to decode mkv h264. however, my 720p mp4's which are from youtube seem to run fine but they look the same as compared from a downscaled version. Not a real noticeable difference.

vlc4iphone is currently a bit dodgy. I had problems playing video files and it doesnt go into landscape mode. I'd give it a miss and try mplayer. that one seems to run fine
