Nidesoft DVD to MP4 Converter is an all-in-one
DVD ripping software. It is both DVD to MP4
Converter and DVD Audio Ripper . It could
convert almost all kinds of DVD to MP4 Video
formats, such as Zune format, AVC format, iPod
MP4, PSP MP4, Creative Zen and so on with best
video and audio quality and high conversion
speed (>200%). As DVD Audio Ripper, it can
also rip DVD audio track to all popular audio
    formats, such as MP3, MP2, M4A, AAC, AC3, OGG,
    WAV...

Keep in mind that you may need to preprocess your file before converting to MP4. In particular, you may need to use a current ripper. DVD Fab HD Decrypter, Any DVD, MTR -14M, etc.

Hi, this is my first post (I got my iPod touch yesterday). I really want to upload a couple of DVDs but I'm not sure where to start. The post from Eragon above made me think that this may be more complex than I appreciated.

Is there a widely regarded 'best convertor software' for getting DVDs on the touch? Preferably one that will cater for Eragon's points above...

    Cheers.

I've found Handbrake extremely easy to use. You just slap in your DVD, select any of its source files (easy to do on a Mac, never tried it on a Windows), click "Start" and in a couple hours it'll give you an mp4 file ready to go on your iPod.

You can mess with quality, aspect ratio, output file, and all kindsa stuff.
