Why would the ipod file be more than the original video file in size? I have like a 194MB file and it ended up being double that and the settings are on basic.

Anybody recommend a good program with quality/compression? (I have the sources to get programs that cost money in general btw)

I think that mp4. files are just bigger than other formats. I use jodix. It's free and easy. When you choose the quality you want your video to be it tells you how large the output file will be.

Look for a setting for the iPhone - that should be more the resolution you should be looking for...

I've noticed the same, a 700mb video goes to 1gb.
I have all the setting right, I'm just accepting it for the moment, seeing as videora is free

Yeah the Jodix program or w/e had a really small size but terrible quality. Videora on the other hand looks absolutely flawless on my iPod, just the size is huge and considering these Touchs only have 8 and 16gb we don't have much space to spare.

you can always make it smaller by selecting a lower audio and video level
