I'm interested in the i-Pod Touch,...BUT was wondering if it is possbile to convert some .avi or dvd format video files so i can view them on it (by means of software conversion first) ?

If it is not possible, i pretty much WON'T buy one !

    Thanks,

    Marc (Montreal, Canada)

I was told that most of the time, when converting through i-tunes, you lose audio.
Will the audio portion of the video remain intact while using the freeware you suggested ?

    Thanks again for your time.

When you convert with any of those programs, it is already in the format you need. So there is no need to further convert in iTunes.

I like to use Xillisoft Video Converter. It's pretty quick and can convert for many differently devices.
