Hello people. I have a question...

I currently have a Intel Pentium 4 Dual-Core at 2.0 Ghz. Also, I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT with 1 gig of RAM. To play modern games, mainly the upcoming Ghost Recon Future Soldier, whcih would be the best one to upgrade to get better performance?

    Here are its minimum requirements:
    Pentium D 3.0GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+
GeForce GT 520 or Radeon HD 4650
    3 Gigabytes of RAM
    DirectX 9 obviously
    And the works..

So what should I do? I know both are outdated, but I'd like it if I could only do one. And what should I upgrade them to?

You'll be fine with your current specs. Those minimum requirements are extremely low.

You're fine on the video card end. The 9800GT can max out most console-port games at 1080p smoothly. Don't worry.

Processor...ehh you're pushing it but it shouldn't matter.

I got 4 gigs lol. I meant the video card had one gig.

Anyways, are you guys pretty sure? You guys probably know a lot more than me on the subject, so what's the difference between the Pentium 4 and the D?

In my non-expert opinion I'd upgrade the processor.

You need a whole new rig TBH, none of those parts are transferable apart from the HDD, PSU, Case maybe.

New processor, but I don't know which ones are compatible.

I was in the exact same position as you. I had a Pentium Dual Core 3.0GHz overcooked to 3.6. I also had a GeForce 9600GT. I was lagging on battlefield 3. I ended you upgrading the processor and motherboard to get an H67 chipset with 8GBs of DDR3 RAM 1333MHz. I ALSO GOT An Intel Core i5 2500k. 70 FPS on Battlefield 3 on low settings now. The only thing limiting me is my video card, but it runs ever game I need it to. Speaking from your position, upgrade the processor. You really need to.

The overal of the computer will be faster if you upgrade your processor, but you have to find one that is compatible with your motherboard. Your graphics card will work just fine for that game.
