This is a discussion thread for the "Verizon's iPhone 5 Will Remain GSM Unlocked" story posted on the front page.
Since i've seen this question everywhere, yes T-Mobile will work on the Verizon iPhone 5. Straight Talk also works and you don't have to do the T-Mobile SIM swap or plist edits to unlock Cellular Data Network. It unlocks automatically. FaceTime over cellular works also on Straight Talk without any extra stuff.
"Contacted Verizon about this. The phone will be unlocked after 90 days of service or when a contract is up witch (sic) ever comes first. The account must be in good standing order at the time." -Taken from http://www.howardforum.com/showthread.php/1777112-Verizon-iPhone-5-s-must-be-unlocked!-FCC If this is true, you'd be paying a lot more buying it with a contract than buying it w/o a contract (can you even do that unless you're already a customer?).
Sprint? SPRINT? SPRINT?!?!?! I would love if it was unlocked... But I don't believe the Sprint one is. Maybe they'll unlock it after contract is up.
I am considering Straight Talk whenever I get an iPhone (years from now when I get a job). Doesn't Straight Talk use AT&T towers or the same kind of frequency as AT&T? Because I know the iPhone 4S with Verizon unlocked will not do Straight Talk. Only the AT&T Unlocked ones and the Unlocked iPhone direct from Apple can do Straight talk if it is the 4S.
