iOS 4.0 "Verifying iPod restore with Apple"

    iTunes stops working at this point. I got about 90% of the way into it earlier but it all stoped as soon as iOS4 was done downloading. Now whenever I try again it just stops at this point.

    Any way around it?

    Do you have your hosts for gs.apple.com forwarded? If not, forward your hosts file and see if that works. (Google for a tutorial on this).

    make sure your computer is allowing iTunes to connect to the internet, any firewalls or anti viruses?

    Ahhh it's doing stuff now. Typical. It fumbles for a good hour or so then as soon as I post a help topic it starts working. Currently on "Restoring iPod software".

    Probably lag with apple's servers
