Ok so I just supposedly got my UDID registered by my friend and I was wondering if there is any possible way I can check to see if he really activated it or not before I upgrade to 4.0.. I don't want a $450 paperweight... XP

    You can always downgrade.

I know but I only have one shot to do this because I don't have a Mac.. Tomorrow I will have one for about 30 minutes or so to do this. I just want reassurance before I do it.

No no.. Lol. I just wanna make sure my UDID is registered before I do this so 1. I'm not wasting time and 2. I don't want to have to restore because tomorrow I have plans and won't be able to restore until sunday.

You will need to restore to get to 4.0. Upgrading just puts you in recovery to restore.

You can downgrade to 3.1.3 no matter what and 3.1.2 if you have your SHSH signatures backed up. If you're on the older iPhone 3G, you can jailbreak 3.1.3 but if you're on the new 3G, you have to go back to 3.1.2 or wait until the next JB comes out.

4.0 is a little bit buggy, beware. I downgraded to 3.1.3 jailbroken because of annoying bugs.

The beta is really only for App testing.
