    mine is verbose booted..........
you can still be on 3.1.3

i think you have to restore.....

    but try this
download your ipod touch 2g 3.1.2 firmware (do this even if you have 3.1.3...you DO NOT need to downgrade)
    download redsn0w
run redsn0w and follow the steps until you get to the part where it asks for choices
check verbose boot (or mode...i dont remember)
and finish the redsn0w steps and reboot to see if it worked

if it didnt then restore and use redsn0w to jailbreak and make sure you check verbose

Hey this didnt work it "reflashed correctly" using the 3.1.2 firmware but then i had to re-enter recovery mode to make it boot. After that verbose boot wasnt enabled anyone else have any bright ideas?

Try restoring. Or if you have a mac make a custom firmware with pwnage tool.

Is it the "new" 8GB version?
If it is, i don't know.

If it's the other ones, than use redsnow. With redsnow you can tell it/ check the box for verbose.
