I have an untethered iPod touch 2g with verbose boot. Whenever I try to DFU restore, I get error 6. When I recovery restore, it just boots up and itunes gets error 1601 or 1604. Once I turn it off again it goes into recovery mode. Is there any way to fix this?

Restore to a clean NOR firmware.

Clean as in no boot logos/verbose/fancy shmancy crap?

I tried restoring to a "clean" NOR-only firmware, but I still get error 6... :[

If it helps, I've reinstalled iTunes, but still error 6.

[SARCASM]Yes, that will help, holding a volume key that has nothing to do with the iPod booting.[/SARCASM]

Actually you have to hold the volume up key for 5sec then release the button, hold down the volume down key for 5sec, then release, then the volume up key again for 5sec and so on until the restore is done. Worked for me everytime I did it. You have to get the rythm right, so it might take you some tries.

Darn the volume up/down thing didn't work for me.
I guess I'll just wait for the redtool 1.02 for automated recovery mode.

you can use quickfreedom if you want automatick recovery mode, just select alredy jailbroken, click cancel when you select logos, and click next, there should be a option to put your ipod in recovery...
