Using volume as an in game button?

    i was wondering if i could use the volume button in an fps (one that im working on) my thoughts were, two analogue sticks on screen and use the volume to fire? is it possible?

    For an AppStore game, you can't do that.

    There is an AppStore safe way to access the volume buttons. Keep an eye out for a posting (not here) by drunknbass. He will be posting the way soon. From what I gather, it's only ~12 lines to access the volume buttons.

    That's interesting, but with some of the ridiculous rejections we have all seen, I doubt a reviewer would accept an application that alters the way the user interacts with the device. I can understand "listening" on volume changes to subtly affect user experience, but using the volume rocker as a game control seems like a departure too great from the norm.

    yeah but with all FPS's people hate the tap to fire or tapping another button to fire, the volume controls would be as close as you can get to a trigger

    I don't think its a bad idea. I was referring to Apple's review team.
