Since the touch has an accelerometer built in I was wondering if it would be possible to measure the amount of g eforces generated on 360 degree circular plot when the ipod is placed flat while in a car. During the warmer months I spend a lot of time on the track and a tool like that would be pretty helpful.

If anyone is interested I can show a video of what I mean by a circular plot.

I think it's possible, but I'm not sure about the scale. I bet that this accelerometer can't go futher more than 1 or 1.5G's... I say that based on a simple question: why on earth Apple would want such a scale bigger than that on iPod.

On street tires 1G would probably be the maximum required, race compound tires would probably require 1.5G - 2G as a maximum. The accelerometers in the ipod must be very accurate, games like labyrinth wouldn't be possible if they weren't.
