UPDATE: New VPN Method. Seems to be much faster and more reliable:

    Follow instructions here: Here!

This method has not been extensively tested. If this fails use one of the methods below. Also, Pandora will most likely block this and then one of the method below will need to be used.

First off this is a very basic tutorial I just did this like an hour ago and wanted to write it down for you guys. If anyone has a better way or a solution for the polipo problem please post!

    Confirmed Working On:
    • iPod Touch 4th Generation
    • iPod Touch 2nd Generation
    • iPod Touch 1st Generation

If your device is not listed, it will probably still work just no one has confirmed it.

UPDATE: There is now instructions for both jailbroken and unjailbroken. Jailbroken does not require a computer, unjailbroken does require a computer and this unjailbroken tutorial is for OS X. Windows instuctions should be similar but you must find the configuration files.

This is for tutorial is for unjailbroken on OS X.

Step 1) Download and install Tor. Here is the download: http://www.torproject.org/download/download.html.en

    Step 2) Install Tor.

Step 3) Edit the torrc file found at: /Application/Vidalia.app/Contents/torrc

    Step 4) Add:
    Code:
    StrictExitNodes 1
exitnodes williamhaines, desync,whistlersmother,lefkada,bettyboop,croeso,TorLuwakOrg,nixnix,inap1,redpineapple,cronic,sasquatch,slowturtle2,moria1,moria2,torxmission,augrime,err,sasquatch,foundry,peertechdata, BostonUCompsci, lefkada, croeso, bettyboop, moobzilla, sasquatch, jalopy, nixnix, ThreadAbort, CH1rrskur7, A1D7DB57EFA57ACA20, agrippator, AoF, ArikaYumemiya, AscendedDaniel, asclepias, augrime, bettyboop, blueice, BostonUCompSci, Butterfly, cjb, codemonkeysorg, croeso, cronic, desync, err, foundry, httpdnet, ieditconfiggg333, illuminata, inap1, Insytez, invisitor, iris, jalopy, lefkada, MasterMindZ, mmarketinfo, moilen, moria1, moria2, moria5, MrRelay, mushin, nbx, nixnix, peertechdata, pickaproxy, random, redpineapple, rodos, sasquatch, schadenfreude, serifos, sipbtor, slowturtle2, soltor, stugsDOTcom, styx, theprocess, torftw, TorLuwakOrg, torxmission, vwglobaltoadcom, whistlersmother, ygrenys, yo2, BostonUCompsci, lefkada, croeso, bettyboop, moobzilla, sasquatch, jalopy, nixnix, ThreadAbort, CH1rrskur7, desync, whistlersmother, lefkada, bettyboop, croeso, torxmission, nixnix, jalopy, soltor, MrRelay
Before the part that is titled "Just for relays"

Step 5) Edit the polipo configuration file.

Change this line: proxyAddress = "127.0.0.1"
    To
    This: proxyAddress = "0.0.0.0"

and make allowed clients something along the lines of:
    allowedClients = 10.0.1.0/24
Where 10.0.1.0/24 is your private IP space like: 192.168.1.0/24

Save and open Vidalia. You should now be connected to the Tor Network.

Step 6) On your iPod/iPhone go to: Settings -> Wi-Fi -> "Your Network"
Step 7) Set HTTP proxy to the IP of your Tor computer with the port being 8118

    Step 8) Listen To Pandora!

    Problems:
    No Authentication
    Tor Can Be Iffy
    Only works on your network
Will slow down internet while the proxy is on.

    Jailbroken Instructions.
You do not need OS X for these instructions.

    1) Jailbreak iPod/iPhone
    2) Follow the how to here to get TOR installed on on your device. This is tested to work on iOS 4 and should work for other versions but I have not tested it.
    *Optional, but recommended*
    3) Once you have tor button installed navigate to /etc/tor/
    4) Edit torrc.sample to add:
    Code:
    StrictExitNodes 1
exitnodes williamhaines, desync,whistlersmother,lefkada,bettyboop,croeso,TorLuwakOrg,nixnix,inap1,redpineapple,cronic,sasquatch,slowturtle2,moria1,moria2,torxmission,augrime,err,sasquatch,foundry,peertechdata, BostonUCompsci, lefkada, croeso, bettyboop, moobzilla, sasquatch, jalopy, nixnix, ThreadAbort, CH1rrskur7, A1D7DB57EFA57ACA20, agrippator, AoF, ArikaYumemiya, AscendedDaniel, asclepias, augrime, bettyboop, blueice, BostonUCompSci, Butterfly, cjb, codemonkeysorg, croeso, cronic, desync, err, foundry, httpdnet, ieditconfiggg333, illuminata, inap1, Insytez, invisitor, iris, jalopy, lefkada, MasterMindZ, mmarketinfo, moilen, moria1, moria2, moria5, MrRelay, mushin, nbx, nixnix, peertechdata, pickaproxy, random, redpineapple, rodos, sasquatch, schadenfreude, serifos, sipbtor, slowturtle2, soltor, stugsDOTcom, styx, theprocess, torftw, TorLuwakOrg, torxmission, vwglobaltoadcom, whistlersmother, ygrenys, yo2, BostonUCompsci, lefkada, croeso, bettyboop, moobzilla, sasquatch, jalopy, nixnix, ThreadAbort, CH1rrskur7, desync, whistlersmother, lefkada, bettyboop, croeso, torxmission, nixnix, jalopy, soltor, MrRelay
    or this:
    Code:
    ExcludeNodes {be},{pl},{ca},{za},{vn},{uz},{ua},{tw},{tr},{th}, {sk},{sg},{se},{sd},{sa},{ru},{ro},{pt},{ph},{pa}, {nz},{np},{no},{my},{mx},{md},{lv},{lu},{kr},{jp}, {it},{ir},{il},{ie},{id},{hr},{hk},{gr},{gi},{gb}, {fi},{es},{ee},{dk},{cz},{cy},{cr},{co},{cn},{cl}, {ci},{ch},{by},{br},{bg},{au},{at},{ar},{aq},{ao}, {ae},{nl},{de},{fr}
    5) Save as torrc in the same directory.
    6) Restart device to make sure settings take effect.
    7) Toggle Tor button
    8) On your iPod, go to Settings -> WiFi -> "Your Network" -> HTTP Proxy
    9) Set Proxy to 127.0.0.1 on port 8118
    10) Open Pandora App and go nuts.

    Problems:
Tor Is Unreliable and will often not connect through the states making the music stop periodically.
Getting Pandora App installed takes a little work. See Below.
More Processing Power required then the previous steps.
    Slow

    Installing Pandora:
    1) On Your computer, open iTunes and go to the US Store.
    2) Search Pandora and go to the App Download page
    3) Click download and it will prompt you to login
    4) Click create new account and follow instructions
    5) When it comes to payment method a none option will now be available.
    6) Complete account creation
    7) Download and install Pandora.

    Troubles?
Pandora Says That It's Not Available In This Country!
Tor has probably routed you though another country instead of the states. Try disabling Tor via the Tor Button and starting it again. This may take several tries but should eventually work.
REMEMBER: What Pandora sees is you going from Canada, to Germany to the Netherlands and Back again. This is bound to cause issues and may require restarts of the application.

    If anyone comes up with
    1) A more reliable US proxy solution or
    2) A more reliable way to keep Tor routed through the states please comment.

I saw that there is a Tor package for iPhone by some guy named Marco. Sadly the link is broken. Tor natively on the iPhone would be just awesome.

Actually if it's running on the iPod itself then many of the modification would not be needed because it should already be configured for local access. It would just take more processing so if your on a first or second gen device it probably would not be optimal but for the newer ones it should be fine.

Ok, so I tested with Tor installed on my device and it works...at least on the 4th gen iPod touch. I cannot vouch for any other iOS device but it does work on this one. Follow the instructions on the this page to install Tor: http://sid77.slackware.it/iphone/howto/

Then edit the torrc file as above to include the US servers. No configuration to polipo is required. Pandora should now be yours anywhere!

If you are finding that it's not connecting through a US server. Try replace the strictExitNodes 1 .... stuff with:

    Code:
    ExcludeNodes {be},{pl},{ca},{za},{vn},{uz},{ua},{tw},{tr},{th}, {sk},{sg},{se},{sd},{sa},{ru},{ro},{pt},{ph},{pa}, {nz},{np},{no},{my},{mx},{md},{lv},{lu},{kr},{jp}, {it},{ir},{il},{ie},{id},{hr},{hk},{gr},{gi},{gb}, {fi},{es},{ee},{dk},{cz},{cy},{cr},{co},{cn},{cl}, {ci},{ch},{by},{br},{bg},{au},{at},{ar},{aq},{ao}, {ae},{nl},{de},{fr}

    @Hackey_Sack

I've edited the instructions above for jailbroken devices. You don't need OS X for those. Have Fun!
