When copying an album in iTunes it says to create a Playlist for each album you want to copy, this will mean that I will end up with a heap of Playlists. Is there an easier way of doing this.? Am I missing something in the procedure.?

Yes, you can just put the specific songs you want in a playlist and then you can select only that playlist to burn to disc.

I know you can just pick out individual songs for the playlist but my concern is that each time I copy one of my cd's I have to have a playlist and eventually the Ipod will be full of playlists. There must be a better way of doing it, or perhaps a better program than iTunes.?

You can just use Windows' Built-In burner

You just throw the music files into the empty cd/dvd and press "Burn To Disc"

Or you can use Windows Media Player.
