I just wanted to know how to get ipod themes without using winterboard. I mean by editing the system files. Winterboard drains my ipods battery fast anf the battery life sucks as it is. I will be using the picnic theme and wanted to know where the default apple icons are located and how to change the wallpaper/dock and lockscreen. Thanks for your help guys.

I doubt winterboard wastes your battery that much..
as for the icons, they are located in each app's folder.
    I'm pretty sure they're called icon.png

to change the lock screen wallpaper go to the theme you want to change the background of and right at the beginning you will find something called lockbackground.png just replace it with your own dont know what size it has to be though.
by dock do you mean the dock only or the springboard wallpaper

    EDIT:
by very beginning i mean when you barely open up the theme folder the image goes in the same place as the bundles, icons, uiimages, folders.
not in them but in the same folder their in. the Springboard wallpaper also goes in that folder.

I mean for the default ipt theme not the themes wallpaper. Dock as in the bottom 4 or 5 icons background.

That's if he uses WinterBoard, which he doesn't want to do.

WinterBoard is NOT the cause of your terrible battery life. That's the battery itself. WB didn't cause any noticeable difference in my old 1G's battery life.

Do you lose that % while using apps? An hour and forty minutes for playing apps is waay above average, I only get around an hour or so.

If you only get an hour and forty five minutes while playing music, then there's something wrong with your battery. Regardless of how fast your battery drains, that's a battery problem, not Winterboard.

I don't even think Winterboard has any background applications running...
