So it doesn't work on 3.1.3 can anyone else confirm that?

I have an iphone 3g running 3.1.3 and I have a prepaid sim card in it. All you have to do is go to an AT&T Store and buy a sim card for $25 and tell them to activate it because you forgot your phone at home. But dont tell or show them that you have an iphone because they will make you get the iphone plan and whatnot. The sim card works fine and you can make/receive calls and texts. Just make sure you turn off 3g from the settings http://www.tipb.com/2008/07/12/how-to-disable-3g-on-the-iphone-3g-for-more-talk-but-less-speed/ and then edge
■To disable 3G and Edge connection on the iPhone, visit iphonenodata.com website using safari on your iphone.
■Click on the ‘DISABLE EDGE/3G’ button.
    ■Tap ‘Install’
    ■Tap ‘Install Now’ to confirm

Do this before you put in the sim card because it charges you 1 cent for every mbs you are using. The reason you have to go to AT&T is because they are the official carrier in the US and every single one of their sim cards work in the iphone 3g and 3gs as long as its the new one with 3g symbol at the back. If you have a 3g sim card they wont work on 2g iphones because the 2g uses edge instead of 3g. Hope this helps, the only reason I know is because I have T-Mobile and ever since my my phone updated to 3.1.3 I couldn't activate it so I had to try it this way and it worked.

Don't tell them you have an iPhone. Just tell them someone is sending you a phone
but you need a sim card..and ask them if they can just activate for you.but do not tell
    them you have an iPhone.
